Famar experience

It was in 1969, following the idea of Aurelio Ricci, that FAMAR (the Ricci Automatic Machines Factory) was born, and with it, the first automatic blister machine on the Bolognese automation landscape. The “blister”, much lighter than the traditional glass vials, eliminated problems of breakage, increased the ease and accuracy of dosage and lowered shipping costs. The market needed a machine for small productions. The small dimensions of the first automatic blister machine, model AP, its ease of use, and its capability of being linked to automatic cartoning machines, quickly gave it a fixed place in the pharmaceuticals market.



During the 70’s Famar saw an expansion of its technical and engineering sectors. During that period larger machines were planned: the RM blister machine for higher speeds and the RF thermoforming machine for packing vials and bigger products.
During the 80’s Famar became the leading supplier of blister machines, not only in Italy, but also in Europe and then overseas: in the Americas, in northern Africa and in the Far East.

The evolution of the market and the pressing demand by pharmaceutical companies to have unique suppliers of their packaging lines, led Famar to expand its production and to design the new automatic cartoning machine, model AS300. Still today this machine is employed for packing blisters and trays inside pre-glued cartons.
At the end of the 80’s poor strategic and financial evaluations led to the slow collapse of Famar, and its control was taken over by other corporations. Not even the new design of an integrated line, which became the Blister Carton Line model BCL 15, would enable Famar to overcome its difficulties.
